Alphabet Soup

This is a no~sew project, well you can sew a little if you want, is quick and easy to cook up.

The instruction kit comes with detailed directions, the ’soup can’ fabric panel and either an alphabet fabric panel or small foam letters.

Just like any good soup you will need to add some more ingredients.  It  takes a small amount of cotton batting, a small cardboard lidded container, a button and the best ‘binder’ to use is a good tacky glue.

The letters & numbers are ironed onto felt with some double~sided fusing and then cut out.  If you want to zig-zag around the edges you can.  I used several different colors of felt to make it as colorful as I could.   It takes about an hour to make and should dry for several hours before playing with it.   My friend Susie and I cooked this one up.  Enjoy!

Animal Crackers

These are so much fun to personalize and make for the kids in your life.  The Fabric Panel Kit ($18) includes one printed panel and you add the lining and the animals.  The kit comes with complete, easy to follow directions.  Or, you can buy just the Instruction Kit ($10) and make the box from scratch.  It includes the Animal Cracker banner and ‘wheels’.  You’ll need to ‘fill’ the box with animals – 1 made 12  two of each so a matching game can played.

If your not sure of what ‘animals’ to use I have many animal prints and will be glad to share them.

Spring Flower Garden Pillow

This flower garden pillow has four flowers that can be pulled out then replanted over & over.   The full size is about 12 inches by 12 inches by 14 inches when the flowers are added.

It takes some time to put together so its a great rainy day or group project.  The instructions ($8) are clear and working with stretchy fleece is so easy; especially when sculpting the ‘flowers’.

The flowers each have 5 petals but you could add as many as you want.  One pattern piece is used so cut as many as you want.  Same with the ‘fence’; if you want to make it bigger you just increase the size of the pattern.

Hand stitching the flowers into the stem and then the bulb is free form and takes some practice.  If you’ve ever done any soft sculpture work you’ll use those skills here.
